Mobius Diversity
Equity and Inclusion Commitment

The Mobius board created a comprehensive diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policy for our organization in June 2021.

Mobius recognizes that systemic racism, discrimination, and oppression have existed in local academic institutions and arts organizations, including its own. Regrettably, we too have been complicit in some of our former funding models. The past several years have given us pause, however. We are unified as a board and stand firmly committed to taking this opportunity to further change the status quo by rooting out these inequities.

In 2017, our first step was to adjust our funding model.

We transitioned from funding 2 schools, Roxboro Elementary and Roxboro Middle School, to adding Monticello Middle School. And in 2019, we began funding ALL 9 of the CH-UH district elementary and middle schools.

We are committed to 100% equity in our fundraising for programming. We support arts and science enrichment opportunities for all students K-8th grade, across the CH-UH school district.

We accept responsibility to make positive change through actionable items. Mobius will work to build a culture that is safe, respectful, fair, and inclusive for all the children, families, artists, teachers, and schools that we serve.

Our mission aligns with the CH-UH City School District to become a model for educational equity by providing students with opportunities for arts and science enrichment.

We look forward to sharing arts experiences with (and from) children and artists of every nation, race, ethnicity, belief, gender, sexual identity, disability, and culture. Please join us to garner further positive change.

We encourage your support and invite you to engage with us in the power of the arts!

Actionable items

  • Change our organization’s name to Mobius from RoxArts in Summer 2022, to better reflect the inclusivity of our mission.

  • Hosted an art supply drive benefiting the Tamir Rice Foundation in collaboration with SPACES, in August 2021 to demonstrate our commitment to equity in arts enrichment.

  • Make financial and artistic resources fully equitable to all CH-UH elementary and middle schools.

  • Diversify our board of directors so that it is representative of our entire community, elevating all stakeholders’ voices by working more closely with parents at each elementary and middle school.

  • More broadly communicate our mission, grant funding application processes, program successes, fundraisers and related activities to the wider Heights community.
